Welcome to Elgar class. Our teacher is Mr Gibbs and our teaching assistant is Miss Bostock. Miss McGrath and Mrs Robinson also works in our class as a supporting the children in the ARC.
In Year 5, we are very busy! On Wednesday afternoons, we have a trumpet lesson with Miss Varley. Our trumpets must be practised at home too. On Thursday mornings, we have a PE lesson with a specialist sports coach, Mr Holland. We must make sure that our indoor and outdoor PE kits are in school every week.
Every day, we work hard in all lessons to achieve our targets!
English and maths homework is set on a Friday and must be completed and handed in by the following Wednesday.
Spelling patterns are given out on a Friday and we must practise words using this pattern ready for a test the following week. A full Year 5 spelling list can be found in our planner and in our homework book.
Reading for pleasure is really important. We have lots of time in class to read on our own, with adults and with our friends. We must also read at home and make sure that our planner is updated and signed by an adult. Planners are checked every Wednesday. We have the opportunity to borrow a selection of books from school to share with adults at home. We are all working hard to achieve stamps in our Bookshelf Passport.
In maths, we are working hard to achieve our NASA passport! A full list of the objectives can be found in our homework book and planner so we can practise at home and achieve our stamps.
