Sports Day 2016!

On Friday 15th July 2016, we had a science day! We carried out lots of investigations. We had a great time!

York Chocolate Story

On Tuesday 28th June 2016, Year 5 visited York Chocolate Story. We took part in a Mayan workshop. We had an amazing time!

Arithmetic Test

After our arithmetic test, we reviewed and discussed our answers. We sorted answers into true and false. We realised that some of us had made some silly mistakes!

England V Wales - Euro 2016

On Thursday 16th June 2016, Year 6 organised an opportunity for us to watch England V Wales. They were raising money for their leavers hoodies. We had a great time and we were all very excited when the winning goal went in!

Ultimate Explorers

In English we are reading the text Ultimate Explorers. We are enjoying learning about famous explorers. We made posters describing what explorers did to be successful and what unexpected challenges they came across.

Around The World Topic Day.

On Friday 13th May, we all came to school dressed in the colours of a flag and we tried delicious food from around the world.

We are really enjoying learning about the world. We used atlases and iPads to locate capital cities. We can now match capital cities to their country and say which continent they are in.

Sport Relief

On Thursday 17th March, we ran 1 mile to raise money for Sport Relief.

Persuasive writing.

We are working towards writing a persuasive letter. We will try to persuade David Cameron to allow us to have the day off school to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's 90th birthday in April. Today, we identified the features of this text type.

Biographies

We enjoyed identifying features of biographies. We are working towards writing a biography about Queen Elizabeth II.

Domino Game

We are really enjoying using and applying our times tables knowledge. Would you be able to win the domino game?!

Street Child

We are enjoying reading Street Child. We took part in a Silent Debate. We read the statement or question written then added our own opinion and commented on other people's opinions using evidence from the text to support our reasons.

We are reading Street Child. We used 'Role on the Wall' to retrieve information from the text. We also wrote questions that we would like to know the answers to.

Tell Me More video

We really enjoy playing Tell Me More to revise what we have learned. Sometimes we even learn something new!

Tell Me More...

In our maths lessons we have been working on place value up to 10 million. We can now read, write and round numbers! We enjoyed playing 'Tell me more'

Making our work even better!

We looked at a selection of Year 5 work and identified what was good and what we could improve. We really enjoyed working together to make our writing even better!

Ingleborough Hall

On Wednesday 11th November 2015, Year 5 went to Ingleborough Hall for two nights. Although the weather was miserable, we had an amazing time and made some great memories!

We have been identifying features of non-chronological reports. Do you know what makes a great one?

On Thursday 8th October we were visited by a Roman soldier (not a real one of course!) We learned lots about the Romans and got to take part in some really exciting activities!

In preparation for our class assembly all about Eid, we have learned who celebrates Eid and how they celebrate. We made Eid cards, designed mehndi patterns and made chapattis.

We are enjoying our trumpet lessons!

In science we are enjoying learning all about forces. We investigated air resistance.
