As part of our Deaf Studies curriculum and supporting children to develop a strong deaf identity, Mrs Robinson our Deaf Instructor makes fantastic links with adults within the Deaf community so they can come and share their experiences with our children. We have had professionals from different sectors as well as ex-pupils come in and talk to our children about their experiences of growing up deaf. These visitors also talk to the children about the jobs they do now and what they had to do to get there, demonstrating that being deaf does not have to be a barrier to employment.

The children loved meeting both Samantha and her support dog Zena, and they learned a lot about what it’s like to live with a working dog.
