All About Roald Dahl

Roald Dahl was born in Wales in 1916. His parents were from Norway.

When he was a child, he loved to read books and listen to stories. He also kept a secret diary, which he put in a waterproof box tied to a branch at the very top of an enormous conker tree, so that his sisters couldn’t find it!

Roald Dahl had five children. He used to make up bedtime stories for them and then started to write these down. This was how his first children’s book, ‘James and the Giant Peach’ came into being. He then wrote his second book ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and many more after that.

Roald Dahl died in 1990, at the age of 74. However, his books are still as popular now as they were when he was alive.
