All About Paul Whittaker

The rooms at Swain House that are designated for the use of the deaf children are named after famous people who are or were deaf.

Paul Whittaker is a profoundly deaf man. He was born in Huddersfield in 1964 and can sign and speak. He gained a music degree from Oxford University and a postgraduate performance diploma from the Royal National College of Music before setting up "Music and the Deaf" in 1988.

As part of Music and being a Deaf role model, he has previously come in to Swain House to teach our sign choir.

We have Paul Whittaker as one of our Resourced Provision role models as he represents that you can achieve great things, despite barriers you may face in your own life.
