Summer 1 2026 The Bear and the Piano by David Litchfield/RP children

As part of our work on The Bear and the Piano by David Litchfield, our RP pupils have been learning about alliteration, when words close together begin with the same sound or letter, such as brave bear or tall trees.
The children matched alliteration word pairs to create short poems linked to the story and then extended these into sentences, for example: The bold bear was brave.
The alliteration work is included within the pupils’ own retelling of the story, rather than the BSL story version. This activity helped develop vocabulary, sentence building and descriptive language in a creative way.
